Decoding Dyslexia Idaho 5th Annual Dyslexia Awareness Summit

  • West Ada Training Center 1303 East Central Drive Meridian, ID, 83642 United States (map)

This year's 1-day summit will be collaborative and intentional in supporting you as we work together to ensure every child learns to read!

Register HERE to save your seat!

We are excited to bring to Idaho Terrie Noland from Learning Ally as our Keynote speaker! In a time of change in the literacy landscape, there is no better time than now to exercise leadership qualities and characteristics that will allow you to deepen your influence and ignite passion and purpose for those around you. You will be inspired to lead large so that no student goes unnoticed or unserved.

Dr. Nell, from the Transformative Reading Teachers Group, Founder of The Reading League Montana and creator of The Big Sky Literacy Summit, will deepen our knowledge of dyslexia, what it looks like in the classroom, how to find it with screeners, and then what to do!

Stephanie Stollar, the creator of The Reading Science Academy, will walk us through the characteristics of assessments - screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and outcome evaluation - and how each relates to planning reading instruction and intervention. Participants will be prompted to reflect on current assessment practices and consider appropriate next steps.

Dr. Sally Brown, assistant professor at The College of Idaho and a key member of many literacy initiatives in Idaho, will walk us through our newly adopted Idaho State Dyslexia Handbook, authored by Dr. Louisa Moats.

We will be joined by our new State Department of Education, K-5 ELA/Dyslexia Coordinator, Karyn Kilpatrick-Snell, who will introduce our state SMART program and our state regional SMART Coaches.

This year's summit will be collaborative and interactive ~ Come with your assessments, questions, and concerns, and learn from the experts in the field. Be prepared to be in the seat of what it is like for our dyslexic students through an interactive dyslexia simulation.

We want to hear from you!

Once you register, you will receive a survey so we can best prepare this 1-day collaborative summit in supporting you as educators and/or parents working to ensure every child learns to read!

Tickets will include a boxed lunch from Panera, a color printed and bound Idaho State Dyslexia handbook, and 1 teacher CE credit will be available for an additional fee to those who attend this 1-day conference and 3 additional virtual webinars hosted by DDID!
